New York City news, New York news.

Floods of Hasidic Jews gathered in Brooklyn streets for three separate funerals on Sunday in total disregard for social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The massive funerals were held on Sunday for three Rabbis and faith leaders. They took place near 55th Street and 12th Avenue in Borough Park, on Hewes Street near Marcy Avenue in Williamsburg and near 44th Street and 16th Avenue.

Police responded to the three sites and tried to force the crowds to disperse as they packed on stoops, sidewalks, and streets by blasting warnings from squad cars. Officers also played a recording to remind people to keep at least a 6-foot distance while in public but the throngs of attendees didn’t pay much attention.
