Nurse who murdered girlfriend doctor: ‘I killed her because she gave me coronavirus’

Italy news.

An Italian nurse has been apprehended after murdering his girlfriend because he thought “she gave him coronavirus,” prosecutors said.

28-year-old Antonio De Pace told investigators that he strangled Lorena Quaranta, 27, to death on Tuesday. Both of them tested negative for COVID-19 following the grisly crime.

De Pace tried to take his own life after killing Quaranta by slitting his wrists but later sought help before his arrest. Authorities said that De Pace and Quaranta were working in the front lines amid the pandemic and the nurse believed Quaranta, who had just been certified, contracted the virus and infected him.

De Pace is being held as charges against him are pending.
