30-year-old New Jersey baseball coach succumbs to coronavirus 2 days after positive diagnosis

The family and friends of a beloved baseball coach in New Jersey are mourning after his Monday death that came right after his COVID-19 positive diagnosis.

30-year-old Ben Luderer was a high-school baseball coach and a teacher at the Cliffside Park School District. He started feeling sick and showing the novel virus’ symptoms on Friday and went to a hospital where he had been positively tested.

The medical staff put him on oxygen before releasing him with antibiotics and treatment. On Monday, he lost the battle with COVID-19 that he contracted along with his wife: “He was tough, smart & a great teammate,” Marist’s baseball team tweeted. “Went on to be a loved teacher & coach! We pray for Ben’s wife and family!”
