DeSantis hits back at Trump's attack, points to historic gubernatorial victory

During a Tuesday press conference on unrelated topics, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was asked about Former President Donald Trump's weekend remarks to which he had a direct response.

“When you're an elected executive, you have to make all kinds of decisions,” DeSantis, who has yet to announce his 2024 run, said.

“And the good thing is, the people are able to render a judgment on that, whether they re-elect you or not.”

    The 76-year-old former commander-in-chief tried to portray DeSantis as “a disloyal”, pro-vaccine Republican governor who tyrannically closed parts of the Sunshine State at the start of the Covid pandemic.

    “He's going to have to do what he wants to do, but he may run,” Trump said last weekend of his 44-year-old rival.

    “I do think it would be a great act of disloyalty because, you know, I got him in. He had no chance. His political life was over.”
