Two young South American scientists were killed in a house fire at a Kansas City apartment not far from their workplace at a biomedical research center.
Camila Behrensen, 24, of Argentina, and Pablo Guzman Palma, 25, of Chile, were found dead inside the apartment and suffering trauma injuries on Saturday.
“Our deepest sympathies are with their families,” the Stowers Institute for Medical Research said of the predoctoral researchers.
“During this difficult time, and most importantly, out of respect to the two families, we want to honor and exceptional work these two individuals embodied and all that they have accomplished.”
Police are offering a $25,000 reward for any relevant information and asking for surveillance video.
