A possible UFO sighting sent social media on edge after videos emerged of a strange pattern of mysterious lights hovering over San Diego late Monday.
Hundreds of comments followed speculating on the two rows of glowing lights that lit up the night sky for “about an hour.”
“Somebody explains the lights in the sky in San Diego,” a Twitter user wrote.
“Multiple floating lights over the ocean. Very still, very bright. Orange, reddish light. Patterns of 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6,” another added.
San Diego Police Department reacted by suggesting that the sighting may have been flaring in military training, refuting the UFO theory.
However, City Manager Sandra Cowan said that the sighting had nothing to do with the scheduled 4th of July drone show in San Diego.
“The lights from yesterday are not related with the upcoming event. The company we’re hiring did not perform any testing,” she said.
