Texas man beat child to death as mom stood by; buried body in remote Colorado campsite before fleeing to Costa Rica

A Texas couple is facing charges in connection with a despicable crime they had committed in a San Antonio hotel room in late July.

Daniel Garcia and Nickolle Aguilar are awaiting extradition back to Texas after fleeing the country so they could be charged each with one count of child abuse resulting in death.

Police said that on July 25, and while the couple and their children stayed at a San Antonio hotel, Garcia brutally beat his 5-year-old stepson Domenic Aguilar-Acevedo and slammed his head against a wall before the child’s mom’s eyes.

  • The boy started vomiting “a dark substance” and died at the scene. Garcia and Aguilar took his body to a remote area in Colorado, camped there, and buried the corpse.

    The suspects fled to Costa Rica where Aguilar’s mom lives. The woman was the one who contacted the police after noticing that the child was missing.

    Authorities said that the body of Domenic was recovered from a Colorado ravine on August 25.
