Elderly woman, 70, caught slipping boric acid into husband’s coffee

A 70-year-old woman has been busted Thursday after a surveillance camera caught her poisoning her husband’s coffee with boric acid.

Suncha Tinevra now stands accused of attempted manslaughter and assault for trying to kill her husband of 11 years Robert Baron.

The 63-year-old man went to a nearby police station in the 111th Precinct in Oakland Gardens and told police officers about his wife’s acts.

  • Baron said that he started feeling his food “funny” recently and was sickened following meals. He said that he slept nearly 15 hours a day because he felt extremely tired.

    He decided to install a camera to verify his wife’s involvement in his illness and the system caught Tinevra slipping boric acid into his coffee on Tuesday morning.

    Police seized the coffee pot as evidence. No motive has been listed for the alleged crime so far.

    Boric acid is a pesticide used to kill cockroaches, spiders, and other insects. To humans, it can cause stomachaches, diarrhea, and vomiting.
