Plymouth news, Pennsylvania news.

A 40-year-old Plymouth husband turned himself into Police Monday after he fatally bludgeoned his wife’s head, stabbed her then threw her in the basement when hearing she was still alive.

Daniel Barrett was charged with homicide after he gave authorities details of Saturday’s murder and how he confronted Mary Susan Barrett over cheating allegations she admitted.

Officers discovered Mary’s body in a pool of blood with a hole in her skull in the basement. Daniel said that he first punched her in the face near the fireplace at their home before blacking out.

But Mary did make a noise after the brutal assault as Daniel washed his face. He then dragged her down the stairs and tossed her in the basement leaving her there for an entire day.

Daniel told detectives that in the meanwhile he considered suicide but ultimately decided to surrender.

Mary was an Air Force veteran before retiring to work as a county’s secretary: “She absolutely didn’t deserve this ending to her story,” Councilman Adam Morehart wrote on Facebook.
