Ontario news, Canada news.

Canada health officials announced that the two first cases of the new Covid strain recorded in the country are a couple who never traveled to the UK or elsewhere and was not in contact with someone who recently did.

The variant of the coronavirus that was discovered in the UK earlier this month is disturbingly running rampant after reaching many countries including France, Ireland, Sweden, Netherlands, Australia, and Japan.

“This further reinforces the need for Ontarians to stay home as much as possible and continue to follow all public health advice, including the provincewide shutdown measures beginning today,” Dr. Barbara Yaffe said.

The “out of control” Covid strain is 70 percent more infectious than the other mutations but is not believed to be deadlier. The Covid vaccines are presumed effective against this particular variant as well.
