A fatal shooting is under investigation after the death of a young man early in the morning.
North Little Rock police were called to the 2900 block of Old Pike where they found a 19-year-old identified as Wesley Everett lying in the street with an apparent gunshot injury.
Sgt. Amy Cooper said that Everett didn't survive his injuries and passed away after being transferred to UMAS for treatment.
Residents were not surprised by the incident. " There are a lot of gangbangers in the neighborhood behind us. They constantly come through and check door handles on cars, looking for trouble," one of them said.
"This is a tragic event for this young man and his family. We will be thoroughly investigating this matter," Sgt. Cooper said.
