Man murdered his mom on Christmas Eve,tossed her body in garbage can near home.

Chicago police have arrested the man who killed his mother on Christmas Eve and left her body in a garbage can about half a mile from her home on the Far South Side.

Robert Wallace, 25, was charged Wednesday with one felony count of first-degree murder.

Police said he stabbed Betty Wallace, 67, in the 10800 block of South Prospect.

Her body was found by Streets and Sanitation workers as the collected trash near the alley of 107th Street and South Prospect Avenue on Christmas Eve.

Authorities said she had multiple stab wounds to the legs and sustained blunt trauma injuries to her face.

Wallace was taken into custody hours later and was charged Wednesday with first-degree murder. He was due in court Thursday.
