A Louisville police officer was hit and killed by a semi-truck driver on Christmas eve, as she conducted a traffic-stop.

Deidre Mengedoht, 32, was fatally hit by a semi-truck while pulling over a different pickup truck. The semi-truck reportedly pushed her car into the pickup she stopped. The police car caught fire, causing serious damage. Mengedoht didn't survive the incident. The four people who were inside the pickup didn't sustain serious injuries.

The suspect has been identified as 60-year-old Roger Burdette, a local Metropolitan Sewer Department employee who was driving one of their semi-trucks under influence. He admitted to police he was taking "multiple prescription drugs," and had difficulty to maintain balance.

He faces murder and operating under the influence charges.
