Four people were killed after a collision between a car and a tanker truck in Garden State Parkway early Wednesday.

New Jersey authorities responded to the crash at 2:50 a.m. near Berkeley Township, on the southbound lanes of exit 81.

The car slammed into the back of the tanker truck. All the four victims were reportedly the car occupants. The driver of the truck was not seriously hurt.

New Jersey State Police said that the cause of the crash is still under investigation, as the identities and ages of the four victims were not immediately revealed.

It was not clear what the tanker truck was hauling. Only the right lane of the Parkway was closed, according to the state police.
