Emotional: El Chapo meets his twin daughters in courtroom

The Mexican drug-lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman appeared in court Thursday, the trial has had an emotional aspect when the suspect saw his daughters for the first time since his arrest.

El Chapo, 61, was crying as his wife Emma Coronel Aispuro and their twin daughters who were seen waving at their father as he appeared in court.

The criminal defense attorney and former prosecutor Vinoo Varghese said that "one of the things as defense lawyers we like to do is humanize our clients, and that apparently [El Chapo] was a very polite guy during the testimony."

The trial was delayed for a two-week break for the holiday.Two of El Chapo's attorneys are denied from using cellphones inside the federal courthouse. He pleaded not guilty to a 17 count indictment.
