Bibb Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting in downtown Macon which left one dead person.
A man identified as 28- year-old Quinton Tylor Benyard of Eastman was discovered by deputies at the corner of Poplar and Third Street around 1:00 a.m. Friday morning, suffering a gunshot wound to the chest.
The victim was immediately taken to Medical Center Navicent Health by ambulance. According to the hospital staff, he passed away at around 3:30 a.m. The identity of the man is unknown at this time.
the victim was involved in an altercation at a local nightclub, prior to the incident. Investigators are continuing to speak with possible witnesses to determine what happened and also to identify the man.
