A Texas daycare provider has been ordered to serve the upcoming 20 years of her life in jail for abusing eight babies between 2016 and 2018.

Jessica Joy Wiese, 45, was convicted by a jury of one of the eight cases after pleading guilty to seven other charges of injury to a child. She has been sentenced to a total of 20 years.

“This is every parent’s nightmare. You entrust your infant child to someone who instead cruelly harms them behind closed doors,” said Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis.

The youngest victim in the case was a 2-month-old boy who had suffered broken ribs and leg and a fractured wrist. Video surveillance showed that Wiese wounded the baby by violently shaking him. Detectives discovered more abused children ranging in age between 9 weeks to 14 months.
