The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration along with the Phoenix Police Department had seized nearly 170,000 pills of fentanyl during a traffic stop following an extensive investigation.

On Thursday, authorities said that the operation, considered as one of the largest fentanyl pills seizures, came after an investigation about a suspect’s drug trafficking activities. Detectives asked the Arizona Department of Public Safety to conduct a traffic stop of a car carrying the suspect and an accomplice.

The search of the vehicle revealed 165,000 blue “M-30” fentanyl pills and 4,000 more were uncovered at two residences in Phoenix and Peoria.

Suspects Marcelino Ontiveros Quintero, 24, and Norma Ibarra Justo were arrested and booked into Maricopa County Jail.
