Franklin County news, Pennsylvania news.

The mother of a 16-year-old boy has been charged after he came to a Pennsylvania hospital in a critical condition, extremely malnourished and weighing only 26 pounds.

41-year-old Elisabet Estrada was charged with one count of aggravated assault, and two counts of endangering the welfare of children stemming from a medical report that described her teen son as "very frail, gaunt, ribs extremely evident and ravenously hungry."

The Hershey Medical Center nurses also described the teenager as sleeping in the fetal position without the ability to stretch out and to speak.

When police went to the boy's home to check on his siblings, they appeared to be in good health.

"That's crazy that you can neglect your own child but then the other children are OK, how does that work?" a neighbor said.
