An Arizona man has been arrested in connection to the cold case murder of a woman who was found bludgeoned to death in 1979.
Charles Gary Sullivan, 73-year-old, was charged with open murder for the death of 21-year-old Julia Woodward whose body was found bludgeoned to death in a shallow grave in Hungry Valley, north of Reno, Nevada.
Woodward had left her family home in California on Feb 1, 1979, and went to Nevada to look for a job. Her body was found two months later with a blow to the head, her eyes sealed shut with bandaids and her legs zip-tied.
DNA testing that was not available at the time linked Sullivan to the murder. He has been previously charged with kidnapping and assaulting a 25-year-old California woman.
