San Quentin news, California news.

A California death row inmate convicted of torturing his victim before killing him was found dead in his cell.

49-year-old Spencer Brasure was found lifeless in his San Quentin State Prison cell on Thursday shortly after midnight. His cause of death remains unknown and an autopsy is pending though no foul play is suspected.

In 1998, Brasure was sentenced to death for kidnapping and torturing Anthony Guest, 20-year-old, before setting him on fire while still alive. He and an accomplice targeted Guest because they believed he was robbing them and annoying their friend.

Guest was tortured for hours with a torch, shocked with electricity and his eyes were glued before his murder.
