Lavallette news, New Jersey news.

According to blood test results, a New Jersey motorist was high on several drugs including cocaine and fentanyl when he hit an elderly pedestrian who died at a Toms River hospital.

The crash unfolded on Oct. 19 when Thomas Castronovo, 83, was walking across an intersection before being struck down by Brian Kosanke, 39, who was high on drugs and gabapentin that is used as a pain killer.

The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office confirmed that Kosanke has been booked Thursday almost 19 days after the accident and is facing multiple charges including vehicular homicide and driving while intoxicated.

A few moments before his arrest, the suspect was seen ingesting heroin by the side of the road and after his release from the hospital, he returned to the scene to recover the drug.
