New York City news, New York news.

The husband of a New York woman who was found dead with an ax in her head has been charged with her murder on Friday, nearly 37 years after the incident.

New details have emerged in the cold case known in New York as the "Brighton ax murder" following the indictment of James Krauseneck, 67, who pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder charges in connection with the death of Cathleen Krauseneck who was 29-year-old when she was found with an ax buried deep in her head. The couple's toddler, Sara, then 3 1/2 years old was also home at the time of the murder and remained near her bloodied mom's body for hours. She has not been hurt.

"Jim's innocence was clear 37 years ago," Attorney Michael Wolford said. "It's clear today. At the end of the case, I have no doubt Jim will be vindicated."
