Anchorage news, Alaska news.

An Alaska woman has been sentenced to 60 years behind bars in the 2012 burning death of her boyfriend while he slept.

Anchorage Superior Court Judge Michael Wolverton said on Monday that the offense was the most horrific he ever dealt with and handed the sentence of 99 years with 39 years suspended and 10 years of probation after release in connection to the 2012 gruesome murder of Michael Gonzalez.

"I hate me for what I did. I can never bring him back," Gina Virgilio said.

Following her arrest, Virgilio has enrolled in a faith-based therapeutic program at the women's prison and got back to her normal life after years of drug addiction.

Virgilio's public defender said that her mind was "fried from the meth" when she poured gasoline on the couch where the victim laid and set it on fire.
