A Dallas police officer was hit by a vehicle on Saturday night, a spokesperson for the Dallas Police Department said.
The officer was driving traffic on Robert B. Cullum Boulevard and Pennsylvania Avenue in South Dallas at the time of the accident.
At approximately 10:20 pm, a driver allegedly bypassed a barricade at the intersection and reportedly beat the police officer, according to the spokesperson. This person is now under investigation for drunk driving.
The officer was taken to Baylor Hospital for life-threatening injuries, according to the spokesperson
