One person was killed and three others are missing after the collapse of part of a hotel under construction in New Orleans Saturday early in the day.

Eighteen others were treated for injuries in local hospitals, New Orleans fire chief Timothy McConnell said Saturday at a news conference, ABC reported.

Eyewitness video shows construction workers fleeing as upper floors of Hard Rock Hotel New Orleans collapse and crane collapses on Rampart Street near Canal Street at limit of the French Quarter. A large steel beam, lifted by one of the cranes, swung into the air above the part of the building that collapsed.

A second piece of the building fell around 10:45.

Several injuries have also been reported.
