A 15-year-old boy who was stabbed Friday in a Washington subway train near the US Capitol died and a 15-year-old girl was charged with murder, police said Saturday.

Police found Jaquar McNair of Southeast D.C., bleeding and unconscious at the Capitol South metro station around 12:30. Friday. The station is about a block away from the Cannon House office building, where some members of the House have offices.

According to the police, the attack was the result of a dispute between a group of teenagers traveling on a subway orange line train.

The teenager suspect was found several blocks away from the station and was arrested on a first charge of assault with intent to kill. The charge was brought to the level of first-degree murder while she was armed after McNair's death.

The girl was not identified because of her age.
