Man shoots brother dead after threatening family with gun

A Long Island suspect has been arrested after he fatally shot his teen brother while inside the family car parked outside their home in Coram on Tuesday night.

Suffolk County Police has arrested Dimitri Robert, 27-year-old, and charged him with second-degree murder after he shot dead his younger brother, Devontay.

According to officials, Dimitri Robert was reported to police after he threatened his family members with a gun at their Judith Drive home. As deputies arrived, Robert got into the car where he found his 17-year-old brother sitting in the passenger seat where he shot him once in the head.

The medical examiner declared Devontay dead at the scene.

Robert's next court appearance is expected for Wednesday.
