A former Florida college professor was found guilty Wednesday of selling illegal drugs to two of his students, according to court records.

A Hendry County jury found Maria Rivera, 37, guilty of drug possession, selling less than 300 meters from a school and contributing to juvenile delinquency, the Miami Herald reported.

A former teacher at Clewiston Middle, Rivera faces up to 35 years in prison when sentenced. Sentencing is scheduled for October 16th.

Rivera sold marijuana to two girls aged 12 and 14.

Rivera took the girls off campus and taught them to prepare and ingest the drugs, investigators said. The girls had never used drugs.

The investigation also determined that Rivera had taken money from a student and promised to deliver medicine the next day. She was arrested on December 8th.

The teacher has remained free since a bond deposit of $ 101,000 in March 2018, according to the Herald.
