Mother arrested after toddler's death of fentanyl overdose

Bangor news, Maine news.

A 33-year-old Bangor mother was arrested almost a year after the death of her 1-year-old daughter.

The arrest of Kimberly Nelligan happened on Tuesday at her home. She is facing endangering the welfare of a child as well as drug possession charges in connection to the October 19, 2018 death of her daughter inside a house at the Holiday Trailer Park.

When responders arrived, they found the infant unconscious and not breathing. They have performed CPR on her before transporting her to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center where she died later that same day.

After nearly one year of investigation by Bangor detectives, evidence linked Nelligan to the case. Meanwhile, an autopsy revealed that the girl died as a result of a fentanyl overdose.
