Houston Police Department chief Art Acevedo said two officers responded to reports of a man wielding a weapon in a car wash near Block 10700 South Gessner at Valley Elementary School. West.

The man reportedly refused to comply with the orders of the officers. He exchanged shots with the police before being shot.

Police announced that the suspect had been taken to the hospital but was later determined to have died at the scene.

At 10:20, the road in front of the school was still blocked and the investigation underway.
