A Texas death row inmate is set to be executed Tuesday evening for his role in the murder of an elderly woman amid an armed robbery in 2010.
Mark Anthony Soliz, 37, along with his friend Jose Ramos went on a crime spree that lasted eight days when they broke into Nancy Weatherly rural home in Godley and stole a television, cellphones and credit cards at gunpoint. They shot the woman in the back of the head as she begged for her life.
Soliz confessed to the murder and evidence linked him to it.
Soliz' lawyers argued that he suffered from fetal alcohol spectrum disorder and that he had an IQ of 75 which is considered intellectually disabled but their requests to spare his life were turned down by State and Federal courts.
