President Donald Trump declared that an emergency exists in the State of Alaska, after a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck just outside Alaska's largest city, Anchorage on Friday.

The Alaska earthquake has claimed no lives, but the state has sustained huge substantial infrastructural damage. Roads collapsed, buildings were damaged and people left without power. Governor Bill Walker deemed the situation a disaster, U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski said that "the impact is very real, the impact is very hard and it will require apparently a great deal of recovery and effort" adding that "there are homes without power. There is some concern that you may have gas line breaks that could lead to potential further disasters."
