Columbus news, Georgia news.

The Georgia triplet accused of fatally stabbing his brother told authorities the stabbing was an accident and that he only wanted to hug him.

36-year-old Kenneth Jernigan appeared in court on Thursday for the first time after he told police he didn't mean to stab Kevin Jernigan, one of his brothers, while they cooked in the kitchen. He was charged with murder and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime.

According to the Columbus Police Department Cpl. Matt Sitler, the suspect's story isn't supported by the evidence recovered from the scene. Sitler said that autopsy results are pending.

The triplet's other brother, Keith Jernigan, told the judge that he was not there at the time of the incident.
