California man shot during gun safety course to obtain weapon's permit

A California instructor has shot a man during a training course to obtain a concealed weapon's permit, according to news outlets.

The incident unfolded on Aug. 10 at the Ben Clark Training Center in Riverside. The unidentified instructor accidentally fired at the trainee's leg causing him non-life-threatening injuries. The Riverside County Sheriff's Office said that amid the course, the instructor conducted a "trigger pull test" and shot the student.

"Paramedics arrived and the citizen was transported to a local hospital where he received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries," police said in a statement.

The victim is a county employee. In a statement, the county spokeswoman Brooke Federico said: "We wish our employee a speedy recovery."
