A Florida couple has been arrested after doctors treated their 2-month-old daughter from severe wounds likely caused by physical abuse.

According to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, the injuries came to light during a routine medical check-up. Doctors noticed that the infant was suffering from severe bruising and brain trauma as well as a broken leg.

When St. Petersburg Police interviewed the parents, they were unable to explain the cause of the injuries.

26-year-old Eric Miller and 24-year-old Carly Bryan were arrested and charged with child neglect. They are being held at the Sarasota County Jail on $25,000 bond. The infant has been removed from the family's custody as the investigation continues.
