The Philadelphia man accused of shooting six police officers during a long and chaotic confrontation spent time as a federal informant.
Maurice Hill, who faces multiple counts of attempted murder, aggravated assault and other charges related to the August 14 incident, is known to have a long criminal record.
But when sentenced in a 2008 case - in which he had pleaded guilty to being a criminal in possession of a firearm - it was revealed that he had been a federal informant, according to documents obtained by the information site The Appeal.
Hill was again detained last week after allegedly shooting six policemen with an AR-15 rifle as police tried to execute a drug warrant.
