Fort Worth news, Texas news.

A Fort Worth man will spend the rest of his life in jail for raping a 74-year-old patient - who could not move or talk - in a nursing home last year.

Anthony Mamboleo Nyakeo, 53, who was working in a retirement home in Grapevine, Texas, about 25 miles northeast of Fort Worth, was convicted on Wednesday of aggravated sexual assault on an elderly or disabled person.

Nyakeo could have been sentenced to probation, but jurors took sides Thursday with prosecutors and sentenced him to two life sentences.

Nyakeo, a Kenyan immigrant to the United States, was charged with raping the elderly woman after DNA linked him to the attack, the Star-Telegram reported.

At his trial, Nyakeo testified that someone must have planted his DNA from a used condom in the body of the victim.

The victim, whose identity was not revealed, died of Alzheimer's disease last year at age 75.
