A 2-year-old Tennessee girl will require more surgeries after she suffered "sock burns" resulting from an Aug. 11 incident when she was punished by scalding water, according to her family.
Jennifer Vaughn was charged with aggravated child abuse for holding Kaylee's feet in the boiling water as a punishment after a "bad day."
Vaughn is a family member that was taking care of the toddler when the event occurred. She called the girl's mother to tell her the girl was burned.
The girl's injuries were described by medical staff as sock burns. Detective Rocky Potter said that they were "the worst scald burns" he'd ever seen.
Vaughn's will stand trial in October. If convicted, she could face 15 to 80 years in jail.
