A former Uber driver raped an intoxicated female passenger after taking her to a Pennsylvania casino.
Ahmed Elgaafary, 27, from Lansdale, Pennsylvania, was convicted of raping an unconscious person, sexual assault and indecent assault.
Chester County Attorney Tom Hogan said Elgaafary would be sentenced at a later date and then likely to be deported to Egypt, where he would be a citizen.
Elgaafary took the woman to the Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia, northwestern Philadelphia, last February.
Elgaafary acknowledged on the witness stand that the woman was drunk. But his lawyer claimed that sex was consensual and that Elgaafary lied because he did not want to admit to cheating on his pregnant wife.
The victim stated that she did not remember anything after leaving the casino around 2 am, but that she woke up the next day with bruises on her thighs.
After the verdict, Uber officials condemned the driver's conduct and said he was "permanently fired" as a worker.
