The Arizona Cardinals have abandoned defensive wing Darius Philon after appearing before a judge in an assault case.

Philon, 25, signed a $ 10 million, two-year contract with the team in March. He played for the Chargers for four years.

Earlier Saturday, head coach Kliff Kingsbury was questioned about Philon in training, reported Fox 10 Phoenix.

Philon was arrested on Friday and appeared in court on Saturday accused of aggravated assault with a death charge, the channel reported.

TMZ got a police report accusing Philon of shooting two women in a Phoenix strip club in May, the channel reported.

Philon attorny Phillip Noland did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Associated Press.
