Irving news, Texas news.

A 16-year-old Texan teenager, victim of three pit bulls in a fenced yard on Saturday, is dead, investigators said.

According to the Irving Police Department on Sunday, the unidentified teenager died at Parkland Hospital overnight. Doctors treated an officer to bite him before releasing him.

Police found three dogs threatening the teenager in the backyard of the house. Officers jumped over the fence and tried to get between the animals and the victim.

Police shot dead a dog, which was then to be euthanized, in order to protect themselves and the victim, according to the press release. The other two dogs were taken to Irving Animal Shelter.

We did not know right away why the teenager was in the backyard.

Lorenzo was not prosecuted as the dogs were in his fenced yard, reported the station.

He told WFAA-TV that the three pit bulls, Bella, Bruce and Little Bit, were only protecting their home and that the teenager should not have been in the yard in the first place.

The investigations continue.
