Eldery woman fatally struck while crossing the road to her home

An eldery California woman was killed by a hit-and-run car Wednesday while crossing the road carrying bags of groceries to prepare her family's Thanksgiving meal.

Marilyn Joy Haight, 79, was struck while she was bringing home the groceries she picked up for Thanksgiving in Norwalk at around 5 p.m.Los Angeles Sheriff's Department said that Haight was taken to a hospital shortly after the incident but didn't survive.

She remained unidentified until the Thanksgiving day when her family arrived at her house, and concerned for her, they contacted Norwalk Station, then she was identified.

The driver reportedly didn't stop to help her, and police said they do not have any description of the vehicle.
