Chicago news, Illinois news.

Marlen Ochoa-Lopez was killed on April 23 after 46-year-old Clarisa Figueroa and her 26-year-old daughter, Desiree, lured the 19-year-old girl to her apartment with a promise of free baby clothes. Instead, the police said the two men had strangled the young mother and cut the baby off her stomach.

The infant, Yovanny Jadiel Lopez, was taken to the hospital after the suspects called 911 to report that he had stopped breathing. He died on June 14th after three weeks of life.

The two men were charged with first degree murder for Yovanny's death on Thursday, in addition to at least two dozen counts of first degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, body mutilation and concealment of a homicide .

A new report published by the Chicago Sun-Times revealed that the grieving family had already received more than $ 300,000 in medical expenses from Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where the baby and one of the suspects had been treated.

Frank Avila, a lawyer from the Ochoa-Lopez family, told the newspaper that the family had received bills for hundreds of thousands of dollars starting April 23, asking the family to take care of the child. They were also charged for the care of Figuero, who had first told the hospital staff that she was his natural mother.

The Sun-Times' Thursday report also stated that the family had not received Yovanny's medical records and that the original birth certificate continued to mention Clarisa Figueroa as the mother of the child.
