Mojave news, California news.

Barbara Thomas, age 69, was last seen on July 12 with her husband, Robert, in the Mojave Desert about 20 km from Interstate 40. She was allegedly wearing a bikini, shoes hiking and a baseball cap and had no supplies nor his cell phone at a time.

In an interview broadcast Wednesday, Robert Thomas told Inside Edition that the investigators considered him the main suspect because "we were only two of us" in the smothering desert. He also said at the exit that he had failed a lie detector test.

Deputies, park rangers and San Bernardino County Sheriff's volunteers walked the desert in search of the grandmother, as temperatures continued to climb in all three numbers this week.

During the interview, Thomas stated that he realized that his wife was missing when he stopped to take a picture of a rock formation and saw her take a turn.

Thomas said he thought his wife had been taken against her will because of what she was carrying and the beer she had taken. He insists that he has nothing to do with his disappearance.
