Skeletal remains found as police conducted search for wanted man

Skeletal remains have been discovered by East St. Louis authorities in the basement of an abandoned property last Friday morning, reports said.

The finding was made at around 10:23 a.m. after police received a tip call reporting an alleged suspect that authorities were looking for, Detective Ronald McClellan said in a news conference.

According to McClellan, investigators found the remains while searching the basement of the home. They believed that the remains belonged to a man who has died "several months" earlier.

No signs of foul play were found. Meanwhile, Illinois State Police along with the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department is still investigating the incident.
