Son arrested after shooting mom several times amid argument

Anderson authorities arrested a 28-year-old man in connection of the shooting of his mother at the yard of their Greenville County property, Lt. Ryan Flood from the Greenville County Sherriff's Office announced.

According to Flood, the unidentified victim was found Wednesday at about 11:30 p.m. near the yard of her Edgemont Avenue house. She has sustained apparent bullet wounds and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment and remains in a critical condition.

The shooting started when the woman entered in an escalated argument with her son, Michael Lee Sammons, who was apprehended the following day in Anderson.

Sammons faces several charges including attempted murder and possession of Methamphetamine.
