A South Carolina mother has been arrested after her 8-month-old son tested positive for cocaine, according to Newberry County officials.
A hair sample was collected from the infant in Newberry County and was tested in the American Toxicology Laboratory. The results came positive on April 19 and the boy's mother, Ahbenee Hooker was apprehended. Police have not disclosed further information about the incident.
The mother was booked into the Union County Jail. It was not clear if a bond was set for her.
The arrest was conducted by the Union police officers after receiving a referral from the DSS office in Newberry County. It remains unclear if the mother has an attorney to speak on her behalf.
