A 19-year-old man has been charged by County prosecutors with attempted murder and use of a knife in relation with a near-fatal stabbing according to court records.
Melachi Davis is accused of using a knife and inflicting great bodily injury from an early November stabbing that occured on the 5500 block of Garvin Avenue in Richmond.
According to witnesses, Davis allegedly stabbed the victim several times. A good Samaritan intervened to chase him off and save the victim. Responding officers identified the suspect after interviewing witnesses who assisted to the incident. Davis was then arrested later that day at a parking lot a quarter-mile away.
Friday, the County jail indicated that the suspect was no longer in custody.
