Joann Cunningham and Andrew Freund Sr., an Illinois mother and father accused of murder following the death of their 5-year-old son. They appeared separately Thursday morning at McHenry County Jail during a hearing. A prosecutor told Judge Mark Gerhardt that Freund beat Andrew "AJ" Freund and forced him to take a cold shower. The judge set a bond of $ 5 million each.
The judge's order means that each parent should post 10%, or $ 500,000, to be released from prison.
Cunningham and Freund reported AJ's disappearance a week ago and authorities used sonar and dog units to search for the boy in the area.
The parents are charged with first degree murder and several other charges.
